Booby bird prints
Brightly coloured dancing birds which will bring a smile to your face. These dancing bird prints will bring colour and joy to your walls, whenever you look at them.
The blue footed booby is found along the coasts of the eastern Pacific Ocean from California to the Galápagos Islands and south into Peru. I first started making Blue Footed Booby prints in 2016 for an exhibition about Darwin's voyage to the Galapagos. When I first saw them on David Attenborough's Life on Earth program on the Galápagos Islands. They are so comical and made me smile, I hope they make you smile too.
I was lucky enough to visit the Galápagos Islands myself in 2019 and see the blue footed boobies in person. I took about 1000 photos of them, which I still use today to help me draw my dancing booby bird prints.
They have bright blue feet, which they display in their mating dances. The brighter the blue, the younger and healthier they are and better mates. They dive into the sea to hunt fish at up to 60 mph. Their brains are protected by a special air sac.
