The Wells Tavern in Hampstead is located next to the old pump house and the building dates back to 1850. The medicinal value of the Hampstead Heath waters which were impregnated with iron began to be advertised from 1700. Wealthy people flocked here from London to take the waters, dance and gamble. The Wells Tavern had a reputation for being a popular location for celebrating "unpremeditated clandestine marriages".
It is now a very popular gastro pub and a great place to spend an enjoyable time with friends.
