This was a key feature of many 19th century London pubs as the name was written down the side and could be seen from a distance on crowded streets.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eIn 1989, Ann Sotheran, a well-known York-based stained glass artist, added some beautiful windows featuring a series of 19th century “champions”, with figures such as Florence Nightingale and the well-known cricketer W.G. Grace.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eIt is now a friendly local pub just North of Oxford Street, popular with office worker sand tourists alike.
