Albert Bridge was named after Prince Albert, who wanted another bridge between Battersea and Chelsea in 1860. It was designed as a toll bridge in an innovative suspension design, sadly this meant the bridge became wobbly when too many people or soldiers marched across. There is still a sign ordering "all troops to break step" as they cross to the nearby Chelsea Barracks. It is highly decorative in green, blue and pink with lights to illuminate it at night so ships could spot it in the fog.
This is a view from Battersea Park, a lovely place to walk in London and enjoy the fresh air.
London is my town, I enjoy walking around looking at the buildings noticing all the little architectural details. London is changing, every day new buildings appear on the horizon. I love the contrast between old and new.
