Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned Grade II* listed coal fired power station, on the south bank of the River Thames in Battersea, London. The building comprises two power stations, built in two stages between 1929 and 1955 in a single building with the iconic four-chimney structure.The power station was decommissioned in 1975.
The station has been used as a film set and gained exposure in the cover photograph of Pink Floyd's1977 album, 'Animals', which shows the power station with an inflatable pink pig floating above it. The former power station, was redeveloped in which now contains over 100 shops, office space and apartments and opened to the public in October 2022.
London is my town, I enjoy walking around looking at the buildings noticing all the little architectural details. London is changing, every day new buildings appear on the horizon. I love the contrast between old and new.
