Chelsea Bridge links Chelsea on the North side with Battersea on the South side of the Thames. The first bridge in this spot was built in the 1840s and called Victoria Bridge, but it was narrow and unsafe so was renamed Chelsea Bridge to avoid any association with the Royal family.
It is believed to be on the site of where Julius Caesar crossed the Thames back in 54BC because an incredible amount of Roman and Celtic artefacts were found there. It is a very pretty bridge, the scene of many romantic strolls across to Battersea.
You can still see the old Power station behind, although it is now a vibrant shopping centre with restaurants and bars.
London is my town, I enjoy walking around looking at the buildings noticing all the little architectural details. London is changing, every day new buildings appear on the horizon. I love the contrast between old and new.
