The Houses of Parliament comprises the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two legislative chambers of government in the UK. It was built in 1840, and is adjacent to Big Ben, the nickname for the largest clock in the Elizabeth Tower, which was built in 1859.
The building sits of the site of the Palace of Edward the Confessor from 1045 and is a popular tourist site in London.
