The Rose and Crown pub in Stoke Newington was a Truman brewery pub. It was rebuilt across the road when the junction was widened. It is close to Clissold House and park.
The entrance to the Rose & Crown used to be the entrance to a narrow off-licence area of the pub, where people could buy bottles and get a jug filled with beer. “Outdoor Department”, as the off-licence was sometimes named, can still be seen above the door.
